Somers, Wis. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners dropped a 3-2 decision at Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday afternoon in Somers, Wis.
Julie Bride (Stilwell, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) had a goal and three shots on goal in the contest and
Karen Nightingale (Ellisville, Mo./Marquette) made 10 saves in goal.
The Rangers (2-2-1, 2-1 GLVC) struck quickly scoring in the third minute on a goal by Jillian Hetfleisch off an assist from Lauren Bialas. S&T (1-2, 1-1 GLVC) answered back six minutes later when
Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) lofted a shot over the keeper from the top right edge of the penalty area for her first collegiate goal.
Parkside outshot the Lady Miners 11-4 in the opening half and 8-3 in shots on goal. Nightingale made seven of her saves in the first 45 minutes. The Rangers also had a 7-1 edge in corner kicks in the stanza.
The game remained tied until the 55
th minute when Parkside's Jenna Rivera headed home a corner kick from Taylor Schiffer-Jander. Once again S&T had a quick answer as Bride scored 1:33 later to even the game back up. She tapped home a loose ball in front of the goal for her second of the season.
The Rangers regained the lead less than a minute later on a goal by Bialas from the top of the penalty area for her first of the season.
Parkside finished the game outshooting the Lady Miners 20-8 and 13-6 in shots on goal.
S&T continues its four game road swing on Sunday when it takes on Lewis University in a 2:30 p.m. kick-off in Romeoville, Ill.
