SOMERS, Wis. – For the second straight game, Missouri S&T's men's soccer team played to a
scoreless tie as it matched up with Wisconsin-Parkside Friday morning.
The game was as even on the stat sheet as it was on the field, as each team finished the contest with 15 shots. The Rangers had seven shots on goal to five for the Miners; S&T goalkeeper
Aaron Hohenstein (St. Louis, MO/Lutheran South), the GLVC's defensive player of the week, turned away all seven Ranger shots on net.
The Miners' best scoring chance came with just under 20 minutes to play in regulation time, when
Trey Haman (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis University HS) hit a shot off the near post and
Will McIntyre (Queenstown, New Zealand)'s effort to put in the rebound went just wide. UW-Parkside's Ryan Shogren also hit a shot off the goalpost in the first overtime period.
S&T's
Felipe Andrade (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), who had good scoring chances both late in the first overtime and early in the second extra period, led the Miners with five shots.
The Miners moved to 1-0-3 on the season and 0-0-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with Friday's tie, while the Rangers went to 2-2-1 and 0-2-1 in the GLVC.
Missouri S&T will play Lewis Sunday at noon in Romeoville, Ill.
