Rolla, Mo. - The Missouri S&T softball team begins an eight game road trip on Tuesday with a non-conference doubleheader against the Lincoln Blue Tigers at Duensing Field in Jefferson City, Mo. at 4 p.m. The road trip continues this weekend with a doubleheader at Truman State on Friday and at Quincy on Saturday afternoon.
S&T enters play this week with a record of 7-18 after splitting a doubleheader against Saint Joseph's on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Miners had a chance to sweep the Pumas but left seven runners on base in the nightcap and were unable to capitalize on four errors in the 6-5 loss.
S&T is led offensively by
Savannah Fedorchak (Oakville, Mo./Oakville) with a .362 batting average and has a team best 17 runs batted in.
Kyra Slemp (Roeland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) is hitting .356 while
Cailey Baker (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield) has raised her average to .348 with four doubles and nine RBIs.
Kati Viets (Sweet Springs, Mo./Sweet Springs) continues to lead the way in the circle with a 4-9 record with nine complete games and 34 strikeouts in 74.1 innings pitched.
Ashley Hill (Centralia, Mo./Centralia) is 2-1 on the year with a save and 11 strikeouts in 13 appearances.
Lincoln enters Tuesday's doubleheader with a record of 2-27 overall and has lost 12 straight after getting swept on the road this weekend against Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State. The Blue Tigers have been shutout in seven of those 12 losses and have scored more than two runs only once in that stretch.
Tori Nienhuesser leads the offense with a .247 batting average with five doubles, two home runs and seven runs batted in. Jessica Wolken is hitting .226 with a double, triple and five RBIs.
Macie Kinsey leads the pitching staff with a record of 1-9 and a 8.15 ERA in 11 appearances this season. Sarah Westhoff has made a team-high 17 appearances in the circle with a mark of 0-6 and an earned run average of 8.93.
Truman State enters play this weekend with a record of 15-7 and has won 12 of its last 14 games overall. The Bulldogs improved to 7-1 in conference play after sweeping Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside this past weekend on the road. TSU averaged 9.5 runs per game this past weekend while yielding only four per contest.
Christa Reisinger leads the squad with a .384 batting average and has 11 extra-base hits on the season. Ashley Murphy has driven in a team-high 16 runs while Lex Van Nostrand has hit five home runs.
Kelsea Dorsey leads the Bulldog pitching staff with a record of 9-2 and a 2.04 ERA in 13 appearances. She's tossed 11 complete games and is averaging nearly a strikeout per inning. Kindra Henze is 4-5 on the year with a 2.18 ERA in nine appearances.
Quincy is 9-11 on the season, 4-4 in league play after winning three of four last weekend at Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis. The Hawks swept the Rangers on Saturday before splitting with the Flyers on Sunday afternoon.
Lindsey Greene is the lone Hawk hitting over .300 with a .323 batting average and leads the team in home runs (6) and runs batted in (18). Samantha Ledbetter has hit three home runs while Rachel Scrum has driven in 12 runs.
Tiffany Harbison leads the way for Quincy in the circle going 3-1 with 0.92 ERA in eight appearances. She's tossed three complete games while allowing only five earned runs in 38 innings pitched. She's struck out 42 batters and opponents are hitting just .132 off of her. Kristen Skala is 3-4 with a 2.90 ERA in seven appearances this season.
