Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners dropped a 1-0 decision to the 16
th ranked Rockhurst Hawks on Sunday afternoon at Allgood-Bailey Stadium. Prior to the game the Lady Miners (4-10, 4-9 GLVC) honored their six seniors:
Julie Bride (Stilwell, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas),
Sarah Hostler (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy),
Leah Camery (Anchorage, Alaska/Steller Secondary School),
Anna Fink (Fulton, Mo./Fulton),
Johanna Jeffryes (Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond) and
Karen Nightingale (Ellisville, Mo./Marquette).
The Hawks (14-1-2, 11-1-2 GLVC) broke the scoreless deadlock in the 58
th minute on a goal from Kristin Wolff. Courtney Silberberg came in off the left wing and centered a pass to Wolff inside the six-yard box who tapped it into an open goal for her sixth of the season.
S&T had a chance late in the half on a header by
Mikaela Mockenhaupt (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) that sailed wide of the goal in the 68
th minute.
Rockhurst finished the contest with an 18-5 advantage in shots and 11-0 in shots on goal. Nightingale made a career-high 10 saves in goal for the Lady Miners.
S&T concludes its season on Wednesday evening traveling to Springfield, Mo., to take on Drury at 5 p.m.
