Lady Miners draw with Drury in season finale

Springfield, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners finished its 2016 campaign with a 1-1 draw against the Drury Panthers in double overtime at Harrison Stadium on Wednesday evening in Springfield, Mo. Drury (4-10-3, 2-10-3 GLVC) finished the game outshooting S&T (4-10-1, 4-9-1 GLVC) 16-14 and 4-3 in shots on goal.

The Lady Miners struck first in the 14th minute as Taylor Vollmer (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) dribbled across the top of the box and found Sarah Hostler (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) who fired a shot past the goalkeeper from eight yards out. The Panthers answered back in the 18th minute. After an initial corner kick was saved off the line by the S&T defense, Drury got another corner kick and capitalized on the second chance. Gabbe Millot sent the corner kick into the middle of the box and Karen Nightingale (Ellisville, Mo./Marquette) came out and got her hands on the ball but couldn't secure it as Rachel Krueger headed it in to tie the contest.

The Lady Miners had a chance about 10 minutes later when Kayla Foster (Sand Springs, Okla./Charles Page) got loose on a breakaway but her shot went straight to the keeper to keep the game even.

S&T finished the half with an 8-5 edge in shots and both sides had two shots on goal.

The Panthers had the best chance in the second half but Nightingale was able to make the only save of the second half.

Drury controlled most of the play in the two overtime periods outshooting the Lady Miners 4-1.
