Volleyball heads to Chicago for Midwest Region Crossover

Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Miner volleyball will take part in the ninth annual Midwest Region Crossover tournament this Friday and Saturday at the Great Lakes Center in Aurora, Ill. S&T will play in three matches over the two days beginning with a pair of matches on Friday against Alderson Broaddus at 11:30 am and against Tiffin at 5:30 pm. Its final match takes place on Saturday against Ashland at 1 p.m.

The Miners  (6-11, 3-6 GLVC) heading into Tuesday's non-conference match against Missouri Baptist look to build off their come from behind win over William Jewell last Saturday and build some momentum for the stretch run.

Offensively, the team is averaging nearly 13 kills per set and has an attack percentage of .176. Claire Friedlund (Parkville, Mo./Park Hill South) leads the attack averaging over three kills per set while Carson Talley (St. Louis, Mo./Affton) is averaging nearly 2.5 kills per set. Alexis White (Auburn, Wash./Riverside) is handing out an average of 9.83 assists per set. On the defensive side of the ball Caroline Dykes (Lawrence, Kan./Lawrence) and Talley lead the squad with 0.65 and 0.61 blocks per set respectively and on the back line Corinne Stulce (St. Charles, Mo./Duchesne) has dug up over 4.5 attack attempts per set.

Alderson Broaddus is 2-15, 1-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference on the season and has won two of its last three matches after starting the year 0-14. The Battlers entertain Fairmont State in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening.

Offensively, the squad is averaging over 11 kills per set and has a hitting percentage of .175. Lauren Daudelin leads the team in kills with 2.42 per set and is joined by Jayla McCrary and Elise Wolff with 2.38 and 2.02 kills per set. Karly Slone runs the offense distributing 8.33 assists per set. Defensively, the team is averaging nearly 1.6 blocks per set and almost 15 digs per set. McCrary has recorded 58 total blocks while Madison Johnson and Daudelin have 36 and 24 total blocks respectively. Joyce Eid averages nearly 4.7 digs per set.

Tiffin is 9-8 on the year, 3-6 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Dragons play host to Kentucky Wesleyan in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening and then will play Saint Joseph's College on Friday morning before their match against S&T.

Tiffin is recording 12.4 kills per set and has an attack percentage of .219 and is holding its opposition to a .183 hitting percentage. Jenna Huffman leads the team with 2.77 kills per set and is one of five players averaging over two kills per set. Olivia Cobb is averaging 2.59 kills/set, Amanda Curry is at 2.36 kills per set, Alexandria Miglin is dropping in 2.20 per set and Danielle Hicks is averaging 2.02 per set. Emily Weithman is dishing out over 10 assists per set. On the defensive side of the ball, Taylor Lattimore leads the squad with 4.85 digs per set.

Ashland is 10-8 on the season, 4-5 in GLIAC play and has lost three straight. The Eagles will take on Bellarmine and Illinois Springfield on Friday before taking on the Miners on Saturday afternoon.

Ashland is averaging over 12 kills per set and is hitting 18.2 percent as a team. Ali Cudworth leads the squad with 3.76 kills per set. Shelby Woycik, Jordan Mackay, Reanne Neal and Casey Clark are averaging 1.94, 1.79, 1.72 and 1.68 kills per set respectively. Kayla Pfeiffer runs the offense handing out 9.04 assists per set while Clark leads the way on the defensive side of the ball with 3.42 digs per set.
