Louisville, Ky. – An early goal proved to be the difference in the Missouri S&T Lady Miners 2-0 loss at Bellarmine on Sunday afternoon in Louisville, Ky. The Knights (7-0, 4-0 GLVC) dominated the stat sheet outshooting the Lady Miners (1-5, 0-4 GLVC) 17-2.

Bellarmine scored in the third minute taking advantage of an S&T foul from near midfield. Jordan Major scored off the ensuing free kick from 45 yards out as the ball bounced over Carrie Levy (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge )'s head for the game's first goal.

That goal would be the only goal of the first 45 minutes as the Knights finished with a 10-0 advantage in shots but put just two of those on goal.

The Lady Miners had an opportunity at the equalizer in the 58^th minute as Andrea Aller (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley ) sent a shot towards the Bellarmine goal that went wide right.

The Knights added an insurance goal in the 66^th minute as Mary Beth Gorham scored from 21 yards out in the middle of the field inside the right post for her seventh of the season.

S&T's best chance to get on the board came nearly 3:30 later when Lauren Tolan (Columbia, Ill./Columbia) hit a shot off the crossbar.

Bellarmine finished the game outshooting the Lady Miners 17-2 and had eight shots on goal.

Levy made six saves in goal for S&T.

S&T returns home this Friday to take on Illinois Springfield beginning at 5 p.m.
