Kansas City, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners dropped its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener on the road against Rockhurst
3-0 on Friday evening at Bourke Field.
The Hawks (1-0-3, 1-0 GLVC) broke on top in the 10
th minute as Nicole Keever redirected a corner kick just across the goal line. That goal stood until the 58
th minute when Rockhurst was able to score off a rebound of a missed shot from six yards out on a goal by Kristin Wolff that went inside the right post.
The Hawks capped the scoring in the 75
th minute off another rebound as Jessica Smelcer struck one with her right foot to the near post for her second of the season.
Carrie Levy (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge ) made nine saves in goal for the Lady Miners (1-2, 0-1 GLVC) with five of those coming in the first 45 minutes.
S&T returns home on Sunday to take on William Jewell College in a 12 p.m. at the S&T Soccer Field.
