S&T looks to break three-game skid on Saturday

Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners look to snap a three-game skid when it heads to St. Louis on Saturday for a matchup against the Tritons from Missouri-St. Louis. In addition the Lady Miners look to snap a 12-game road losing streak which dates back to the 2013-14 season and also try and break a two-game losing streak against UMSL.

S&T will try to bounce back after dropping a 74-64 decision to Maryville in the conference opener for both squads on Thursday evening in Rolla. The Lady Miners gave up 20 offensive rebounds in the contest which resulted in 20 second chance points for the Saints and also turned the ball over 24 times resulting in 25 points for Maryville.

Janie Arand (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) and Jamy Douvier (Sedgwick, Kan./Sunrise Christian Academy) paced the offensive attack with 13 points apiece off the bench while Sandra Douvier (Sedgwick, Kan./Sunrise Christian Academy) and Raetchel Gray (Allen, Okla./Byng ) had eight points each. S&T shot nearly 50 percent from the field in the contest but was unable to keep the Saints off the foul line as they shot 30 free throws and made 23 of them.

As a team S&T is shooting 44.2 percent from the field, have connected on 23 of 73 attempts from beyond the arc and have made 71 percent of its attempts at the foul line. It's outrebounding its opposition by 5.4 rebounds per contest and is averaging 12.4 steals per game.

Gray and Bria Pierce (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley North) are the lone players in double figures averaging 10.6 and 10.5 points per game respectively. S. Douvier is dropping in nine points per contest while Arand and J. Douvier are averaging 8.4 per game. Pierce is the leading rebounder with 6.3 per contest.

Missouri-St. Louis enters Saturday's contest with a record of 3-4 on the season and is 0-1 in league action after dropping a 74-65 decision against Drury on Thursday evening. Kelly Kunkel led four Tritons in double figures with 18 points but it wasn't enough as the Lady Panthers made 22 free throws to UMSL's 13 in the contest.

The Tritons are averaging 67.4 points per contest and have connected on 42.3 percent of their attempts from the field. They're getting outrebounded by over two rebounds per game, but are forcing 10.4 steals per game. Kunkel leads the team in scoring with 13.9 per game while Robneisha Lee and Syndey Bloch are averaging 11.6 and 11.1 per game respectively.

Saturday's contest marks the 57th meeting all-time between the two schools with S&T holding a 37-19 advantage. Missouri-St. Louis has won two straight and three of the last four overall. Saturday's contest also marks the 30th meeting in the series at UMSL with the Lady Miners holding an 18-11 lead in the series in St. Louis.
