S&T hosts Harris-Stowe in final game before Holiday break

Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners conclude its three-game homestand when it welcomes Harris-Stowe to the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building this Sunday at 1 p.m. The Lady Miners (4-4) look to end the first half of the season on a positive note heading into the Christmas break.

S&T also looks to bounce back from a 69-58 loss against fourth ranked Drury in their previous home game. The Lady Miners got behind by 11 points in the opening quarter but after that played even with the Lady Panthers over the last three frames.

S&T has been pretty stout defensively this year allowing just 58.8 points per contest. It's held six opponents to under 70 points and three to less than 50. The Lady Miners are holding the opposition to just 37 percent shooting from the field and have limited opponents to just 32 percent shooting from the perimeter. They rank amongst the GLVC leaders in scoring defense and field goal percentage defense.

Raetchel Gray (Allen, Okla./Byng ) and Bria Pierce (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley North) are the lone players in double figures averaging 10.6 and 10.0 points per game respectively. Jamy Douvier (Sedgwick, Kan./Sunrise Christian Academy) is adding 9.0 points per contest while Joe'l Bland (St. Charles, Mo./Homeschooled) is dropping home 8.5 per night. Douvier also leads the team in rebounding with 7.4 rebounds per game. Gray also leads the team in assists with 31 and steals with 17.

Harris-Stowe is 3-6 on the season heading into their American Midwest Conference contest against Lindenwood-Belleville on Saturday afternoon. Four of the Hornets six losses have come been 10 points or less and one of their wins was a 74-66 decision over Lincoln University on Nov. 25.

Harris-Stowe is led in scoring by freshman Cierra Stanciel with 14.6 points per game while Alantis Sutton is averaging 9.7 per game and Angela Randall is chipping in with 9.0 per contest. Monae Riley leads the team in rebounding pulling down nearly seven rebounds per game while Randall leads the team with 20 assists.
