S&T continues homestand on Saturday against fourth ranked Drury

Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners continue its three-game homestand against the fourth ranked Drury Lady Panthers at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley contest. The Lady Miners have won two in a row while the Lady Panthers come in at 7-0.

The Lady Miners picked up their second straight win on Tuesday with a 76-57 win over Westminster. Joe'l Bland (St. Charles, Mo./Homeschooled) had a big night for S&T going 7-of-8 from the field as she matched her season high of 16 points and recorded a career-high five steals in the contest.

Jamy Douvier (Sedgwick, Kan./Sunrise Christian Academy) recorded her second straight double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds while Raetchel Gray (Allen, Okla./Byng ) and Bria Pierce (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley North) were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Gray continues to lead the Lady Miners in scoring averaging 10.1 points per contest, while Douvier checks in with a mark of 10 per game and a team-high 7.9 rebounds. Gray also leads S&T with 28 assists and is tied for the team lead in steals with 16 with Elsie Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney High School).

Drury has won its seven games by an average of 22.6 points per game which is the eighth best mark in NCAA Division II. Shooting has been a large part of the Lady Panther success, as they lead the nation in both overall field goal percentage at 54.1 percent and three-point shooting percentage at 48.5 percent.

Annie Armstrong leads Drury with an average of 14.6 points per game and is hitting 53.8 percent of her shots from long range which is second best in Division II. Alice Heinzler has made 55.3 percent of her three-point attempts which is fifth in Division II and is averaging 13.9 points per contest. Armstrong and Heinzler are tied for the team lead with 21 three-pointers apiece, nailing eight each in a game last month against Trevecca Nazarene. Hannah Dressler is the top rebounder for Drury with 4.4 a game.
