Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners dropped their 2015 season finale to Drury
2-0 on Wednesday at Allgood-Bailey Stadium in Rolla. The Panthers (9-4-4, 8-4-3 GLVC) got goals in each half to pick up the win.
Drury got on the board in the 24
th minute taking advantage of a Lady Miner (1-14-2, 0-13-2 GLVC) foul outside of the box. Ciara O'Brien served one into the middle of the box where Emily Cline got free inside of the six yard box and redirected the ball off of
Carrie Levy (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge )'s hand into the goal.
S&T had an opportunity off the ensuing kick-off as
Suzy DeWael (McCordsville, Ind./Mt. Vernon High School) ran down a long ball and put a shot on goal that Tina Haberberger was able to snag it by the right post.
The Panthers finished the half with a 9-3 edge in shots, 5-1 in shots on goal.
Drury added to its lead four minutes into after halftime. Mariah Gove won a ball down the right side and took a shot towards goal that was deflected towards the far post where Rachel Krueger was able to get a head on it and put it in for her third of the season.
The Lady Miners had a couple of chances in the 70
th minute as
Kendall Fitzpatrick (Houston, Texas/Memorial ) tried to score from about 30 yards out on a free kick and then five minutes later
Julie Bride (Stilwell, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) tried to score on a shot from the left side of the box that was cleared off the line by a Drury defender.
S&T outshot Drury 4-3 in the second half and both teams had two shots on goal.
Fitzpatrick and Bride had two shots apiece for the Lady Miners.
