Meet resultsROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T got three events wins Friday in its home opening meet, but the 18
th-ranked Miners fell short in its dual meet against eighth-ranked Delta State as the Statesmen won by a 114-91 count.
The Miners got their event wins from
Jon Anderson (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury Senior) in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.68 seconds,
Kevin McPherson (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan) in the 200-yard butterfly in a close finish over DSU's Adam Charlton in a time of 1:53.95 and
Jon Glaser (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette), who took first in the 500-freestyle in 4:46.98.
McPherson also had a second place showing in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.09 as did Anderson in the 100-freestyle in 47.82 seconds. S&T also got second place showings from
Eirik Nielsen (Stathelle, Norway/Toppidrettsgynmaset) in the 400-individual medley in 4:11.70,
Stuart Mossop (Houston, Texas/James E. Taylor) in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:58.49 and
Miguel Chavez (Chihuahua, Mexico/Colegio de Bachilleres) in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:06.42.
The Miners also finished second in both the 400-yard medley relay with the team of Mossop, Chavez,
Ethan Shih (Papillion, Neb./Papillion-LaVista) and Anderson finishing in a time of 3:28.12 and in the 400-freestyle relay in 3:10.47 with the team of Nielsen,
Keith Sponsler (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln East), McPherson and Glaser.
Glaser was third in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:04.25, as was
Morgan Meyer (Ruston, La./Ruston) in the 200-freestyle in 1:48.95, Sponsler in the 50-freestyle in 21.86 seconds and 100-free in 47.85 seconds, Chavez in the 400-IM in 4:15.95, Nielsen in the 200-butterfly in 1:58.15 and Shih in the 200-backstroke in 1:59.54.
The Miners will be back in action Saturday when they take part in a quadrangular meet with Delta State, Saint Louis and Lindenwood in St. Peters, Mo.
