INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis got the jump on Missouri S&T early in Friday night's matchup, scoring an early goal and keeping the Miners off the scoreboard in a
2-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference win.
The Greyhounds had the early momentum in the contest, getting two shots at the Miners before Zak Mitiche scored at the 9:38 mark to give UIndy the lead. The Miners finished the first half even in shots with the Greyhounds at five apiece, but only got one of them on goal against Christopher Jones.
UIndy came out at the outset of the second half in much the same manner as it did in the first and proceeded to add to the lead nearly six minutes into the second half by converting shortly after taking a corner kick.
Jacob Meyer got the goal that gave the Greyhounds (9-4-2, 8-3-2 GLVC) a two-goal advantage against a shorthanded Miner team, who was already playing without
Martin Klevjer (Trondheim, Norway) and then saw leading scorer
Eduardo Abichabki (Sao Jose do Rio Pardo, Brazil/Colegio Unigrau) leave the game two minutes after the contest began.
Nick Posey (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) finished with six saves in goal for the Miners, who were outshot by a 15-9 margin for the night.
Maxi Fuchs (Munich, Germany) had three of S&T's nine shots.
