ROLLA, Mo. –
Kramer Hall (Liberty, Mo./Liberty HS)'s second half goal broke a scoreless tie and sent Missouri S&T to a
1-0 victory Sunday afternoon over Wisconsin-Parkside on Senior Day at the S&T Soccer Field.
Hall, one of five seniors on the Miner squad who were recognized prior to the game, redirected a centering pass sent from the end line by
Eduardo Abichabki (Sao Jose do Rio Pardo, Brazil/Colegio Unigrau) and redirected it past Ranger goalkeeper Remi Bibal at the 65:17 mark for what turned out to be the only goal of the contest.
The goal was the first in Hall's career as a Miner and gave S&T's its third win in succession – all shutout victories – and fifth in its last six games.
The Rangers (5-7-2, 5-5-2) outshot the Miners 7-5 in the first half, but S&T took more control of play after the intermission and held a 14-4 advantage in shots after the intermission. UW-Parkside did have nine corner kick opportunities in the game to four for S&T.
James Holloway (Cape Girardeau, Mo./Notre Dame Regional) – another of the five seniors -- picked up his second shutout in as many starts and ninth for his career, turning away five shots on goal. Bibal finished with seven stops for the Rangers as both keepers made key saves throughout the course of the game.
With the win, Missouri S&T now finds itself in a four-way tie for second place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with an 8-4 record; the .667 winning percentage has the Miners tied with Bellarmine, Indianapolis and Drury. The top four teams will host a first round game in the GLVC Tournament on Nov. 1 following the final three regular season contests.
The first of those three for the Miners (9-6) will take place Friday when they play at Indianapolis in a 7:30 p.m. (Eastern time) game.
