S&T looks to snap three-game skid on Saturday against Southern Indiana

Leigh-Ann Kesper
ROLLA, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners look to snap its three-game losing streak when Southern Indiana comes to Rolla on Saturday. The Lady Miners dropped their seventh contest in their last eight games in Thursday's 65-61 loss to Bellarmine.

In that contest S&T was once again hampered by turnovers and offensive rebounds. The Knights forced 25 turnovers and grabbed 14 offensive rebounds as they outscored S&T in points off turnovers 20-15 and second chance points 13-6. The Lady Miners blocked a season-high nine shots but it wasn't enough as Bellarmine made three free throws in the final seven seconds to secure the win.

Leigh-Ann Kesper (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) continues to lead S&T in scoring (8.9 ppg), rebounding (6.3 rbg) and blocked shots with 37. She leads the GLVC in blocked shots and is currently ranked sixth in NCAA-II with 3.08 blocks per game. Janie Arand (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) is moved into second on the scoring chart raising her average to 7.7 per game after her 15-point performance against the Knights while Jamy Douvier (Sedgwick, Kan./Sunrise Christian Academy) and Elsie Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney High School) are averaging 7.3 and 7.2 points per game respectively.

Southern Indiana enters Saturday's game with a record of 10-3, 2-1 in the GLVC after suffering a 64-54 loss at Drury on Thursday evening. The Screaming Eagles average nearly 75 points per game, but struggled shooting the ball in the first half shooting just 7-for-19 and turned the ball over 14 times. USI outrebounded the Lady Panthers by 10 and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds resulting in 18 second chance points.

Anna Hackert leads three Screaming Eagles in double figures with 15.5 points per game while Mary O'Keefe is averaging nearly 11 per game and Tanner Marcum is dropping in 10.3 per contest. Hackert also leads the team in rebounding with 11.6 per game while Mariah Nimmo leads the team in assists and steals with 34 and 28 respectively.

Saturday's contest marks the first meeting in Rolla between the two sides since S&T won 73-51 on January 7, 2010. The Lady Miners have won five of the six meetings played in Rolla and lead the all-time series 12-3.
