Lady Miners fall at Quincy 3-0

Box Score (Quincy, Ill.) – The Missouri S&T women's soccer had its two-game winning streak snapped on Friday in a 3-0 loss at Quincy. The Hawks (5-3, 4-1 GLVC) scored three times in the second to defeat the Lady Miners (2-5, 2-3 GLVC).

The first 45 minutes were scoreless with Quincy outshooting S&T 5-3, but the Lady Miners had the only shot on goal by Anna Fink (Fulton, Mo./Fulton) in the 14th minute.

The Lady Hawks broke the deadlock 5:35 into the second half when Taylor Lindwedel played a ball ahead to Kayla Numberger who finished it into the upper right corner for her first of the season. Quincy added another goal in the 74th minute. Lindwedel crossed a ball into the far post and Mackenzie Rief was there to put it in. The Lady Hawks third goal game just 0:43 later when Haylye Markway converted a penalty kick.

S&T had its chances in the second half taking four shots and putting all four of them on goal, but were unable to get one past Megan Swanson.

Quincy outshot the Lady Miners 11-7 in the contest, but S&T put five shots on goal compared to three for the Lady Hawks. Fink and Leah Camery (Anchorage, Alaska/Steller Secondary School) had two shots apiece for the Lady Miners while Sammy Minea (Leawood, Kan./Blue Valley North ), Sabrina Hostler (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) and Kendall Fitzpatrick (Houston, Texas/Memorial ) took a shot apiece.

S&T concludes its road trip on Sunday with a visit to Kirksville, Mo., to take on Truman State at 12 p.m.
