Box Score (Rolla, Mo.) – Sabrina Hostler (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy)'s goal in the 75
th minute lifted the Missouri S&T Lady Miners to a
1-0 victory over Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon for S&T's second straight win. For Hostler it was her team leading third goal of the season.
The match was scoreless through the opening 45 minutes though both sides had chances with the Greyhounds (1-3-2, 0-2-2 GLVC) registering six shots while the Lady Miners (2-4, 2-2 GLVC) took five shots.
S&T began to control the action in the second half but were unable to find the back of the goal until Hostler scored in the 75
th minute.
Kendra Wood (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) set the goal up playing a ball to Hostler on the wing that hit a defender on the way through and Hostler did the rest putting it inside the far post.
The Lady Miners had a couple of chances to add to their lead in the 76
th and 79
th but were denied by the Indy keeper. The 'Hounds had a chance to equalize the game in the 83
rd minute, but
Kaitlyn Deister (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) made the save to preserve her second consecutive shutout.
S&T outshot Indianapolis 11-3 in the second half and finished the game with a 16-9 advantage in shots including 7-3 in shots on goal. Hostler took four of those shots while
Julie Bride (Stilwell, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) and
Leah Camery (Anchorage, Alaska/Steller Secondary School) had three shots apiece.
Morgan Henry (Camdenton, Mo./Camdenton) also recorded two shots in the contest. Deister made three saves in the contest.
The Lady Miners return to action this Friday when they travel to Quincy, Ill., to take on the Quincy Hawks at 5 p.m.
