(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miner softball nine conclude the home portion of their schedule with a six-game homestand beginning on Friday afternoon when it hosts the Lewis Flyers beginning at noon. The homestand continues on Saturday when the Lady Miners face Wisconsin-Parkside at 12 p.m. and concludes next Tuesday against Drury at 2:30 p.m.
Saturday will be senior day for S&T as the Lady Miners will honor
Adrienne Kruse (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville),
Amber Duncan (Centralia, Mo./Centralia) and
Cassie Rizzo (Webster Groves, Mo./Webster Groves) in between games of the doubleheader against the Rangers.
S&T enters play this weekend at 10-27 overall, 5-19 in the GLVC and have dropped three straight after winning three straight.
Andi Davis (Blue Springs, Mo./Archbishop O'Hara ) continues to lead the offense hitting .326, but in her last 11 games she's hitting just .214 (9-for-42).
Shelby Michaelis (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) is hitting .313 and has been even better in her last six games going 9-for-21 with six runs scored, three runs batted in and a pair of doubles.
In the circle
Becca Strope (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville) leads the squad with five wins and has an earned run average of 3.05. She's thrown nine complete games, has three shutouts and has struck out 47 hitters in 101.0 innings of work.
Amber Duncan (Centralia, Mo./Centralia) has four wins and leads the team in appearances with 23.
Lewis comes into the weekend with a record of 14-20 overall, 8-13 in the GLVC and has won four straight. The Flyers extend their win streak on Wednesday winning the first game of their doubleheader against Wisconsin-Parkside 7-3. Lewis scored four runs in the top of the seventh to break a 3-3 tie to earn the win. The second game was suspended due to darkness with the score tied 1-1 going into the eighth inning.
As a team the Flyers are hitting .249 with 29 doubles, six triples, and five home runs. They've also stolen 44 bases on the season. Nicole Kappleman is hitting .362 while Brittany Russell has an average of .315. Ali Brems leads the team with 17 RBIs while Carly Jaworski has eight doubles.
Kelly Bowler leads Lewis in the circle with an 8-9 record and has tossed 11 complete games in 22 appearances. She has an ERA of 2.80 and has struck out 73 batters in 117.2 innings of work. Opponents are hitting just .246 off of her. As a team the Flyers have an overall ERA of 3.89 and have issued 154 walks while the opposition is hitting .257 against them.
Wisconsin-Parkside enters play this weekend having dropped 10 straight and are 2-23, 2-17 in the GLVC. The Rangers are hitting .257 as a team with eight home runs. Kira Cooper leads the squad with a .410 batting average while Kalli Gosser is hitting .312. Kirsten Luevano leads the team with four home runs.
Parkside is led in the circle by Carly Dundee with 2-11 mark and has made a team-high 16 appearances with 10 starts. In 76.2 innings of work she has allowed 111 hits and struck out 33 while issuing 45 free passes.
