(Rolla, Mo.) – It's a pivotal weekend for the Missouri S&T women's soccer team as it heads out on the road looking to move up in the GLVC standings in search of a trip to the postseason tournament. The Lady Miners enter play this weekend tied for eighth in the conference with McKendree at 4-4.
S&T is still looking for its first road win of the season and hopes it can bottle up its play at home and take it on the road with them. The Lady Miners posted back-to-back 1-0 shutouts over the weekend against Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville to leap frog both of them in the standings.
After a slow start to its season McKendree has been much better of late winning four of its last five contests. The Bearcats saw their four-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday falling at 11th ranked Wisconsin-Parkside 1-0.
McKendree has scored 16 goals on the season and is led in scoring by Natalie Crane and Danielle Hareb with three goals and an assist for a total of seven points. Alyssa Reiniger has scored two goals and two assists for six points. Taylor Zerbe has played a majority of the minutes in goal with a goals against average of 0.57 and has allowed four goals. She's made 28 saves and has posted four shutouts on the year.
After Friday's contest S&T will make the trek to Louisville, Ky., for a match with Bellarmine on Sunday afternoon. The Knights host Drury on Friday evening before welcoming the Lady Miners to town. Bellarmine is 7-2-2 on the year, 5-1-2 in the GLVC after a tying Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis on the road last weekend and are currently tied with Rockhurst for third in the league.
The Knights are ranked in the GLVC in scoring with 23 goals just one behind Wisconsin-Parkside. They're led in scoring by Mary Beth Gorham with six goals and an assist for 13 points while Katie Fernandez has scored five times with an assist for 11 points. Lauren Holder has also added four goals and an assist for nine points. Hannah Poteet has played nearly every minute in goal and has a goals against average of 0.85 allowing four goals in 106 shots faced. She's made 35 saves and has posted five shutouts.
