(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T women's soccer returns home to face Bellarmine this Friday and McKendree on Sunday in a pair of Great Lakes Valley contests. The Lady Miners earned their first win of the season this past Sunday with a hard fought 1-0 win at Illinois Springfield.

Defense has been the key for S&T to this point allowing just one goal per contest. That defense will be tested on Friday when the Knights come to town. Bellarmine enters play this weekend having won three of its last four after starting the season 0-2-1. It leads the GLVC in goals (17), goals per game (2.43), shots (133) and points (47) and is second in the league in assists with 13. On the other side of the ball the Knights are allowing 1.21 goals per contest.

Mary Beth Gorham and Chelsea McCarty lead the team in scoring with 10 and eight points respectively. Gorham has tallied four goals and assisted on two others while McCarty has scored twice and set up four others. Lauren Boyd is third on the team scoring three goals and an assist for a total of seven points. Hannah Poteet has played a majority of the minutes in goal allowing nine goals while making 16 saves.

McKendree started the season winning three of its first four contests, but is winless in its last three contests (0-1-2). Last Sunday the Bearcats dropped a 3-1 decision to Rockhurst at home. They've scored 12 goals on the season while allowing 12 goals and have outshot their opponents 109-to-86.

Chealsey Russell leads the team in scoring with four goals and an assist for a total of nine points. Cassie Kaiping and Alyssa Patterson are tied for second in scoring with six points apiece. Maggie Dudas has played nearly 620 minutes in goal allowing 11 goals while making 19 saves.
