Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners scored four times with two outs in the top of the sixth en route to 5-3 win at Drury in the opener of the GLVC Doubleheader on Wednesday at Meador Park in Springfield, Mo. The Panthers took the nightcap by the same 5-3 score.

The opening game was scoreless until the top of the sixth when the Lady Miners (7-10, 6-5 GLVC) broke on top. Kaylea Smith (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs) started the two out uprising with a double to left center. Hannah Jokisch (De Soto, Kan./De Soto) came onto run for her and came around to score on Kate Runyan (Crown Point, Ind./Boone Grove)'s double down the left field line for the first run of the game. Shelby Michaelis (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) had a great at-bat fouling off several tough pitches and eventually worked a walk to put two on. Dana Lawson (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) drove both runs home with a double to center and advanced to third on the throw home. Rachel Glenn (Chicago, Ill./Marion Catholic) drove in the fourth run of the inning with a single.

Drury (13-12, 4-7 GLVC) scored three times in the home half of the sixth to cut the lead to one and had the tying and go-ahead runs on base. Becca Strope (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville) got out of the jam getting a groundout to first to end the threat.

S&T added an important insurance run in the seventh. Andi Davis (Blue Springs, Mo./Archbishop O'Hara ) led off with a single, but was erased on fielder's choice off the bat of Cailey Baker (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield). Smith worked a two-out walk and then Runyan came through with her second RBI of the contest singling to right center.

Strope retired the Panthers in order in the bottom of the seventh to pick up her second save of the season.

The Lady Miners had nine hits in the contest led by Davis, Runyan and Glenn with two apiece. Lawson and Runyan drove in four of the five runs. Taylor Keal (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs South) earned the victory allowing three runs, all earned, on five hits in 5.2 innings. She walked three and struck out one to even her record at 5-5.

S&T scored first again in the second contest. Michaelis reached safely on a bunt single with one out and then Lawson blasted a home run to left center for the early 2-0 lead. It didn't last though as the Panthers loaded the bases with no one out in the bottom of the inning and scored three times.

The Lady Miners had the tying run at second in the third inning, but Smith was robbed of extra bases and the RBI by a diving catch by the right fielder. Drury scored a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend the lead to 5-2.

S&T got a run back in the sixth. Kyra Slemp (Roeland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission East) led off with a double to left center and then scored on Smith's single.

The Lady Miners had six hits in the nightcap with six different players recording a hit. Amber Duncan (Centralia, Mo./Centralia) suffered the loss allowing three runs on three hits with two walks and a strikeout. Strope went the final five innings allowing two unearned runs. She walked one and got 12 ground ball outs.

S&T returns to action on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Missouri-St. Louis in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
