Volleyball hosts Drury in pivotal match on Tuesday

(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Miner volleyball squad hosts rival Drury in a pivotal match-up on Tuesday evening at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building beginning at 7 p.m. The Miners are one of six teams battling for the final three spots in next weekend's GLVC Tournament.

The top three teams in each division gain automatic berths to the tournament with the last two spots going to the two teams with the next best records. After Sunday's match S&T is tied with Missouri-St. Louis for third in the GLVC West, but has the tiebreaker over the Tritons by virtue of its 3-2 win over them on Oct. 12. The Miners, Tritons, Wisconsin-Parkside and Bellarmine all have conference records of 8-7 heading into the final week of league play.

Missouri-St. Louis travels to Maryville on Tuesday before returning home to take on Quincy and Truman this weekend. The Rangers are on the road for their final three games beginning with Lewis on Tuesday. UWP will play McKendree and Illinois Springfield on Friday and Saturday. The Knights head to Evansville, Ind., on Tuesday to take on Southern Indiana and then will host Saint Joseph's and Indianapolis this weekend.

S&T enters the match trying to end a streak that's seen them drop three straight and six of its last seven overall. The Miners lost at home this past weekend to Lewis 3-1 and Wisconsin-Parkside 3-2. S&T continues to be led offensively by Hayley Wright (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) and Krista Haslag (Linn, Mo./Helias ) who are averaging 2.46 and 2.42 kills per set respectively.

The Panthers come into Tuesday's match having dropped two straight and four of its last five overall. Drury was swept at home by Wisconsin-Parkside this past Saturday and then dropped a four set match to Lewis on Sunday. Sara Borneman leads the Panther attack averaging 3.29 kills/set.

Tuesday's match is also the annual "Green Out Night" with all fans encouraged to wear green to the contest. It will be Faculty and Staff appreciation night with free entry to anyone with an S&T ID card.
