Women’s soccer returns home to face two ranked foes

(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners return home to face a pair of top 25 teams this weekend in Truman State and Quincy. The Bulldogs and Hawks are tied atop the GLVC standings with identical 7-0-1 marks.

Fresh off of two wins last weekend the Lady Miners look to build on those results and continue to move up the conference standings. After Truman and Quincy the rest of the standings are up for grabs with the third through 11 spots separated by just one game. S&T has the advantage getting to play five of its last seven contests at home.

Defense has been key for the Lady Miners this season as they've allowed just nine goals through eight contests and have posted three shutouts. They will be tested though this weekend with Truman and Quincy both ranking amongst the league leaders in goals scored.
The Bulldogs enter Friday's match riding a 10-game unbeaten streak after opening the season with a 1-0 overtime loss at fourth ranked Minnesota State. The 'Dogs ran their winning streak to five in a row with a pair of 1-0 home wins against Rockhurst and William Jewell last weekend. Truman has allowed a league low four goals and has posted a GLVC best seven shutouts. Offensively, the Bulldogs have scored 17 goals and are led by Trisha Shoemaker with four goals and two assists and Alexis Heffernan with three goals and four assists. Truman is ranked 22nd in this week's NSCAA Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

Quincy enters play this week also riding a 10-game unbeaten streak and have won two in a row. The Hawks, ranked 9th in this week's top 25 poll, host Lindenwood in non-conference match on Wednesday before traveling down to Springfield to take on Drury on Friday. Quincy has scored 16 goals this season while allowing just five. It ranks second in the conference behind Truman in goals allowed and shutouts (6). Jaclyn Mastroianni leads the Hawks in scoring with 18 points scoring six goals and assisting on six others. Ashley Burton is second on the team in goals (5) and points (10).
