(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T women's soccer team returns home this weekend kicking off a three-game homestand with Lewis on Friday night. The Lady Miners still have a chance to qualify for the GLVC Tournament, but need to win these three games and get some help from other places in order to do so.
S&T and Lewis will meet for the 17
th time with the Flyers holding a 9-6-1 edge in the series. However, S&T is 5-1-1 against Lewis since joining the GLVC in 2005 and has won five straight.
The Flyers began the season with a 6-1-1 mark, but have won just once in their last six contests and have seen their GLVC record fall to .500. They've scored 24 goals on the season with 19 of those coming in their first eight games.
Jessica Chavez leads the team in scoring with 18 points scoring eight goals and assisting on two while Lauren Grady and Meg Carmody have tallied 11 and 10 points respectively. Maggie Moran has added three goals and three assists. Jennifer Meyer has played a majority of the time in goal making 21 saves and has recorded a shutout. She has a goals against average of 0.91.
The Rangers enter play this week with a mark of 10-2-2 overall, and 8-2-2 in league play. UWP has won five straight and is unbeaten in its last eight contests.
Wisconsin-Parkside has outscored its opponents by a 29-9 margin this season and has outscored its opponents 16-2 during their unbeaten run. Its leading scorers are Kaela Hoecherl with 15 points (7g, 1a) while Emily Konior has tallied 13 points (6g, 1a). Jasmine Espino and Stephanie Barsuli have scored four goals each. MalloryGeurts has seen a majority of the action in net making 50 saves and has a goals against average of 0.64.
The Lady Miners are led in scoring by
Sarah Hostler (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) with four goals, while
Catherine Hawn (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo),
Kimberly Ekholm (Houston, Texas/Cy-Springs ),
Leah Camery (Anchorage, Alaska/Steller Secondary School) and
Kelsey Salzman (Blue Springs, Mo./Notre Dame de Sion) have scored a goal apiece. Hawn and Ekholm have a team best two assists.
Goalkeeper
Kaitlyn Deister (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) has a goals against average of 0.62 this season allowing just four goals while posting three shutouts.
