(Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miner soccer team heads to Indiana for its final road trip of the 2013 regular season this weekend. The Lady Miners take on Indianapolis on Friday at 4 p.m. (CST) and then head up to Rensselaer on Sunday to take on Saint Joseph's College at 12 p.m.
S&T is sitting in 11
th place with five games remaining and is still in contention for a playoff spot. The Lady Miners went 0-1-1 last weekend falling at home to #22 Truman State 2-0 and then played ninth ranked Quincy to a scoreless draw in double overtime.
Defense has carried S&T this season allowing just 11 goals through 10 contests. The Lady Miners rank sixth in the conference in goals allowed, eighth in goals against average (1.02 GAA) and are tied for eighth with four shutouts. Opponents are averaging 12.7 shots per game against the defense, but less than half of those attempts are on goal.
Indianapolis enters action this week tied with the Lady Miners for 11th in the GLVC standings and is still in contention for a playoff spot. Last week the 'Hounds went 0-2-1 losing to Grand Valley State, the top ranked team in the country, 2-0 and then lost to Bellarmine at home 1-0. On Sunday UIndy tied McKendree 1-1 in double overtime.
The Greyhounds have scored 13 goals this season while allowing their opponents to score 14. Taylor Cotherman leads the team in scoring with nine points (4g, 1a) while Stacy Klene and Kaitlyn Braunig have scored three goals each. Three players have tallied a goal apiece. Megan Fee has played a majority of the time in goal making 74 saves and has recorded four shutouts. She has a goals against average of 1.04.
Saint Joseph's enter play this week with a mark of 1-8-2 overall, and 1-7-2 in league play. SJC went 0-1-1 last weekend tying McKendree 1-1 and then lost to Bellarmine 4-0. Sunday's game marks the end of a four game homestand for the Pumas.
Saint Joseph's has been outscored this season 26-8. Its leading scorers are Stephanie Cradduck and Sarah Johnson with six points (2g, 2a) each. Taylor Henry has also scored a pair of goals while Megan Grahmhofer and Elizabeth Travis have a goal each. Amanda Volk has seen all the action in net making 91 saves and has a goals against average of 2.24.
