Lady Miners suffer first setback of 2012 season at Parkside 2-0

Box Score (Somers, Wis.) - The Missouri S&T Lady Miners suffered its first setback of the 2012 season at Wisconsin-Parkside 2-0 on Friday afternoon. The Rangers scored both of their goals in the first half.

Parkside (2-0-1, 1-0 GLVC) got its first tally in the seventh minute when Emily Konior converted a penalty kick. The Rangers scored again in the 37th minute when Kelsey Armour put home a shot from Alex Johnson. Parkside finished with a 6-4 edge in shots with five of those being on goal. S&T (2-1, 0-1 GLVC) put two chances on target.

The Rangers controlled play in the second half outshooting the Lady Miners 10-2, but were unable to add to their lead thanks in large part to the play of Madison Gibler (Kansas City, Mo./Staley) in goal. Gibler stopped seven shots in the second half and finished the match with nine saves. Kimberly Ekholm (Houston, Texas/Cy-Springs ) took three shots for S&T.

The Lady Miners are back in action on Sunday afternoon when it takes on Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill., beginning at 2:30 p.m.
