Box Score (Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners dropped its fourth straight match
1-0 to Missouri-St. Louis on Friday night at the S&T Soccer Field. The loss snapped S&T's three-game winning streak against the Tritons.
The Lady Miners (4-5, 2-5 GLVC) controlled play for the first 20 minutes but were unable to get a goal. UMSL (2-5-1, 2-4 GLVC) began to dominate the next 20 minutes but it too was unable to break the defense for a goal. S&T had some chances late in the half but was unable to score.
The Lady Miners finished with a 7-3 edge in shots, 4-2 in shots on goal, but were whistled for six fouls against three for the Tritons.
UMSL scored the game's lone goal in the 49
th minute. Brittany Harbaugh played a corner kick inside the six-yard box and Haley Larson tapped it in for her second goal of the season.
S&T had a couple of chances late.
Kimberly Ekholm (Houston, Texas/Cy-Springs ) blasted one over the crossbar in the 77
th minute and then in the closing moments
Nicole French (St. Louis, Mo./Oakville) missed a tying goal. A cross came in that the Triton keeper couldn't handle and it fell right to French. She pushed the ball just wide of the far post.
The Lady Miners finished the game outshooting UMSL 10-7, but gave up six shots on goal to just four. Ekholm,
Kendra Wood (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) and
Sammy Minea (Leawood, Kan./Blue Valley North ) recorded the four shots on goal.
Kaitlyn Deister (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) made five saves in goal.
S&T is back in action on Sunday afternoon when it hosts Maryville University beginning at 12 p.m.
