Lady Miners look to regain winning ways

(Rolla, Mo.) - The Missouri S&T Lady Miners return home for a pair of matches this weekend against Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville. S&T is out to snap a three-game losing streak overall, but will also try to continue its recent run of success against the Tritons.

Scouting the Opposition

Missouri-St. Louis - The Tritons enter Friday evening's contest with a 1-5-1 mark, 1-4 in the GLVC. Last weekend they dropped a pair of matches at home to Rockhurst 3-1 and William Jewell 2-1.

UMSL is led offensively by Kali Thomas with three goals and an assist for a total of seven points. Libby Shriver and Kayla Thorpe have scored two goals apiece. Kaitlyn Smugala has played every minute in goal this season for the Tritons. She's made 36 saves while allowing 18 goals. Her goals against average is 2.47.

Maryville - The Saints enter action this weekend with a record of 2-5-2 overall, 1-3-2 in league play. Last week Maryville went 0-1-2 wrapping a pair of ties around an overtime loss. They opened the week tying McKendree 0-0 in 2 OT at home. Last Fri-day the Saints lost to William Jewell 2-1 in OT. On Sunday they played to another tie at home against Rockhurst. Maryville has played four overtime matches this season going 1-1-2.

Sam Poteet and Jen Jung are the leading scorers for the Saints with three and two goals respectively. Jena Casagrande has gone 2-0-2 in four games in goal. She's al-lowed three goals in 402 minutes of action. She's stopped 21 shots and has a save percentage of 87.5 percent. Mandy Browning has played four games in goal as well and has allowed 10 goals in 366 minutes of action. She's made 25 saves and has a goals against average of 2.46.

The Series

Friday's match will be the 32nd meeting all-time between the Lady Miners and Tri-tons with UMSL holding a 24-6-1 advantage in the series. S&T has won four of the last five meetings including a 1-0 decision in St. Louis last season. S&T is 2-11-1 against the Tritons in Rolla.

The Lady Miners hold a 13-4-1 advantage over Maryville all-time heading into Sun-day's match. The Saints won last year's meeting 1-0 in St. Louis. S&T is 8-1-1 all-time in games played at Maryville. The Lady Miners have won five of the eight meetings in Rolla as well.
