Box Score (Springfield, Ill.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners dropped its third straight contest at Illinois Springfield
5-1 on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops S&T to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in the GLVC.
The Prairie Stars (3-4-1, 2-4 GLVC) jumped on top in the seventh minute on a goal from Eileen Kenny. The Lady Miners tied the game in the 24
th minute when
Lauren Todd (Raytown, Mo./Raytown South) scored her first of the season with an assist from
Kelsey Salzman (Blue Springs, Mo./Notre Dame de Sion).
The game remained tied until the 41
st minute when Carin Fearing scored the first of her two goals to give UIS a 2-1 lead at the break.
Fearing scored six minutes into the second half to make it 3-1 then the Prairie Stars added goals in the 78
th and 85
th minutes for the final tallies.
UIS outshot S&T 17-11, but it was much closer in shots on goal with the Stars holding a 9-8 edge.
The Lady Miners are back at home on Friday night when they host Missouri-St. Louis beginning at 5 p.m., at the S&T Soccer Field.
