Box Score (Rolla, Mo.) - The Missouri S&T Lady Miners had its two game winning streak snapped on Sunday with a
2-0 loss to the Indianapolis Greyhounds at the S&T Soccer Field. The 'Hounds got a goal in each half.
S&T (4-2, 2-2) controlled play for the first 15 minutes and had some chances but were only able to put one shot on goal by
Kirstin Kurilla (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) in the 10th minute. Indy (2-4, 1-3 GLVC) scored what proved to be the game winner in the 20th minute. Taylor Cotherman took a throw-in and dribbled it down the near sideline and lofted a shot from 25 yards out over the outstretched hands of
Madison Gibler (Kansas City, Mo./Staley) inside the far post.
The Greyhounds edged the Lady Miners in shots 5-3 in the opening 45 minutes with each side making a save.
S&T nearly tied it in the 49th minute but
Kimberly Ekholm (Houston, Texas/Cy-Springs )'s shot went wide right. Indianapolis added two its lead a minute later when Nicole Duncan fired a cross into the box for Stacey Klene who redirected past Gibler for the 2-0 lead. The Lady Miners pressed hard to get on the board but the Greyhound defense didn't let anything through.
Indy finished the game with a 14-11 edge in shots, but eight of its were on goal compared to three for S&T.
Ekholm took five shots for the Lady Miners while Gibler made five saves.
S&T travels to Quincy, Ill., on Friday evening for a matchup with Quincy beginning at 5 p.m.
