ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri S&T placekicker
David Druse (Coal City, Ill./Coal City HS) was named Monday as the Great Lakes Valley Conference's special teams "Player of the Week" after accounting for 11 of the Miners' 41 points in their 41-22 victory Saturday at Saint Joseph's College.
Druse, a redshirt freshman, was successful on all seven of his placekicks on Saturday, going five-of-five on extra points and making both of his field goal tries during the second half to help the Miners extend their lead in the contest. Druse was successful on kicks from 24 yards out in the third quarter and from 31 in the fourth period.
The Miners have had six of the conference's weekly awards come their way this season and have had a recipient in each of the last two weeks as linebacker
Chris Horn (Tulsa, Okla./Booker T. Washington) landed the honor a week ago. Quarterback
Josh Firm (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill), wide receiver
Joseph Hyman (Los Angeles, Calif./Palisades) and kick returner
Carlton Westbrook (Centralia, Ill./Centralia) have all been named this season, with Westbrook being named on two occasions as the league's top special teams performer.
Missouri S&T, 9-1 on the season and ranked 20th in the latest AFCA Divsion II national rankings, will play South Dakota School of Mines Saturday in Rapid City, S.D.
