ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T will seek to bounce back from a home opening loss to begin the 2012-13 season as it hosts Southwest Baptist in men's basketball action Saturday night Billy Key Court. Game time is at 7 p.m.
The Miners shot only 33.3 percent on the night as they dropped a 66-56 decision to Emporia State to begin the season last Saturday. S&T was able to rally and got to within four on two occasions before the Hornets were able to pull away in the final three minutes.
Bryce Foster (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central) led the Miners with 11 points and
Julian Johnson (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) added 10, while junior Mudi Eruteya had nine rebounds for S&T.
Southwest Baptist is currently 1-3 on the year after knocking off Arkansas-Monticello 78-69 Thursday, getting 16 points from Gilbert Gyamfi as five Bearcats scored in double figures. Jaywuan Hill and Preston Guiot are each averaging just over 10 points a game, while Kyle Sloan has shot 50 percent from three-point range and is tied for the team lead with Guiot with seven treys apiece.
SBU and the Miners have split their meetings over the last two years, with S&T taking a 74-68 decision two seasons ago in Rolla and the Bearcats winning in Bolivar last November.
