(Rolla, Mo.) - The Missouri S&T Miner volleyball team will head north to Chicago this weekend to take part in the fifth annual GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Tournament at the Great Lakes Center in Aurora, Ill., this Friday and Saturday. S&T has won nine straight matches and 13 of its last 14 overall.
The Miners are 4-8 all-time in the event, but have won three of their last four. They'll play in the opening round on Friday morning against Grand Valley State starting at 11:30 a.m. After a break, they'll return to the courts to take on Northwood (Mich.) starting at 5:30 p.m. Then on Saturday, S&T will face Hillsdale College at 1 p.m.
This will be the third straight year that the Miners and Lakers have met at the Crossover. Grand Valley won 3-0 back in 2010 while the Miners won 3-1 last season. This will also be the second meeting of the season between the two clubs. The Lakers defeated the Miners 3-2 back on Sept. 1 at the Western Oregon Invite in Monmouth, Ore.
The match against Northwood will be the first meeting all-time between the two schools, while the match against Hillsdale will be the third meeting between the two sides. The Chargers won both meetings last season defeating S&T 3-0 on Sept. 2 in Indianapolis and then 3-1 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Hillsdale on Nov. 18.
