Box Score (Liberty, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners fell on the road to the No. 21 William Jewell Cardinals
2-0 on Friday evening in Liberty, Mo.
The game was scoreless until the 25
th minute when Sarah Franklin scored the first of her two goals. She chased down a long pass from Ashley Licata, split a pair of defenders and put it past
Madison Gibler (Kansas City, Mo./Staley) for her 14
th of the season. The Cardinals (12-1-2, 10-1-2) outshot the Lady Miners (6-9, 4-9 GLVC) 7-1 in the opening frame.
S&T's defense kept it in the game making some great stops and along with Gibler's play in goal had a chance to tie the game. The Lady Miners took five shots in the period and had two of those on goal that were saved. Franklin put the game away in the 89
th minute when she received a pass from Gabby Brooks, split a pair of defenders again and beat Gibler to the far post for her 15
th of the season.
William Jewell finished the contest with a 15-6 edge in shots and 7-0 in corner kicks.
Colleen Lewis (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall Academy) and
Kendall Fitzpatrick (Houston, Texas/Memorial ) each had a shot on goal for S&T.
The Lady Miners are back at home on Sunday when it hosts Rockhurst on senior day beginning at 12 p.m. S&T will honor its three seniors prior to the match.
