(Rolla, Mo.) – Missouri S&T allowed three goals in the first 10 minutes and were never able to recover in its 5-0 loss to the 22nd ranked Bellarmine Knights on Friday evening in Rolla.
The Knights (6-0-1, 5-0 GLVC) scored two minutes into the contest when Abby Janszen scored off an S&T (2-3-1, 2-3 GLVC) turnover deep in its own end. The Lady Miners had an opportunity to tie it in the ninth minute. Leah Williams (Lawrence, Kan./Free State) beat the keeper and had an open goal to shoot at but the ball was saved off the line by a Bellarmine defender.
The Knights took advantage scoring 0:48 later when Adrianna Long scored an unassisted goal to make it 2-0. Janszen scored again in the 11th minute.
S&T had a couple of opportunities to score but couldn't put them on frame.
Bellarmine scored again in the 28th minute as Lauren Boyd put in a rebound off a shot from Janszen that Madison Gibler (Kansas City, Mo./Staley) couldn't hang onto.
The Knights finished the first half outshooting the Lady Miners by an 8-6 margin with six of those on goal.
Bellarmine scored again in the 72nd minute when Taylor Gamm redirected one in off a throw-in.
The Lady Miners were outshot in the contest 16-11 and 11-5 in shots on goal. Sammy Minea (Leawood, Kan./Blue Valley North ) and Williams combined for seven of those shots.
S&T is back at home on Sunday afternoon when it takes on Northern Kentucky beginning at 12 p.m.
