OWENSBORO, Ky. – Missouri S&T survived a major scare Sunday afternoon, scoring a goal in the final minute of regulation time and getting the game winner from Peter Vaccaro (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West ) just over a minute into overtime to escape with a 3-2 overtime win at Kentucky Wesleyan in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

The Miners trailed 2-1 heading into the latter stages of regulation time, thanks to a pair of goals by Takis Agisilaou, but was able to knot the score when Spencer Brinkmeyer (Kansas City, Mo./Oak Park) scored with 22 seconds remaining off an assist from J.J. Bilyeu (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers). S&T wasted little time putting the contest to a close once overtime began, as Vaccaro got a pass from Trent Doerner (Spring, Texas/Klein Oak) and put a shot by goalkeeper Peter Stoll to end it after 1:07 had elapsed.

Vaccaro got the Miners on the scoreboard just 2:19 into the game, scoring off an assist from Caleb Collier (Springfield, Mo./Kickapoo).   That lead held up until the final minute of the first half when Agisilaou scored an unassisted goal to send the teams to the intermission tied at a goal apiece.

Agisilaou scored again at the 57:04 mark – on one of just two shots the Panthers got in the second half – to put KWC in front. The Miners got 14 shots off in the second half – and had two goals called back due to offsides calls -- but weren't able to get the equalizer until Brinkmeyer scored in the final moments.

The Miners, who improved to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the GLVC with the victory, outshot the Panthers 24-7 for the game.

S&T returns home for its next two games, facing Bellarmine Friday at 7:30 p.m. before a visit from defending NCAA Division II champion Northern Kentucky next Sunday to the S&T Soccer Field.
