(St. Louis, Mo.) – Taylor Keal (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs South) tossed a one-hit shutout and Kristen Drage (Morganfield, Ky./Union County ) drove in the lone run as the Missouri S&T Lady Miners won its season finale 1-0 on Saturday at the Maryville Softball Field in St. Louis, Mo. Maryville won the opener 1-0.

Both sides were held hitless through the first two innings in the second game until the Lady Miners (13-29, 8-16 GLVC) got a pair of hits in the third inning. Adrienne Kruse (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) led things off with a single back up the middle. She moved to second on Katie Smith (Shawnee, Kan./Shawnee Mission Northwest)'s grounder to third but the throw to second was wide of the bag allowing both runners to reach. Lindsey DeForest (Fulton, Mo./North Callaway) reached on a perfectly placed bunt single to third to load the bases with no one out. After a pair of strikeouts Kassi Deibert (Highland, Ill./Highland) drove a ball to deep right center that Sarah Graham made a head-first diving catch to keep the game scoreless.

The Saints didn't get their first hit until the fourth when Shelby Steinkamp lined a ball off of Keal's glove for an infield single. She was erased two batters later on a fielder's choice as no Saint runner advanced past second in the contest.

S&T threatened again in the fourth putting two on with one out but couldn't score.

The game remained scoreless until the sixth. Deibert led things off with a walk. Lauren Briggs (LaMonte, Mo./Knob Noster) came into pinch run for her and advanced to second on Kaylea Smith (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs)'s sacrifice bunt. Drage lined the first pitch she saw over the left fielder's head for a double to drive in Briggs with the only run of the game.

That would be all the support Keal needed as she needed just 12 pitches to set down the final six Maryville hitters. For the contest she threw only 73 pitches and allowed a walk and the infield single while striking out three. She finishes the season at 11-14.

S&T had four hits in the contest by four different players.

In the opener on Saturday the Lady Miners best chance to score came in the first as they put their first two hitters on base. After a groundout, Drage nearly gave S&T the lead hitting a towering drive to right center which the wind held up allowing the right fielder to catch it at the fence for the second out. Smith then hit a line shot to right appearing to score a run but was thrown at first to end the inning.

The Saints took advantage of an infield hit, two walks and a hit by pitch to score the first game's only run in the second inning.

The Lady Miners didn't threaten again as they had just two hits the rest of the afternoon and didn't get a runner to second after the opening frame.

Amber Duncan (Centralia, Mo./Centralia) was the tough luck loser allowing the one run on four hits. She walked two and struck out three.

Jamie Hatlan (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit ), Jennifer Sardigal (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) and Adrienne Kruse (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) each had a hit for S&T.
