Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

(Highland Heights, Ky.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners were swept at the hands of Northern Kentucky 3-0 and 16-3 in five innings on Saturday in Highland Heights, Ky. NKU(13-7, 6-0 GLVC) is the hottest team in the Great Lakes Valley Conference having won eight straight.

In the opener Taylor Keal (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs South) pitched a solid ball game giving up two runs, one earned, in the third inning and another run in the sixth. Unfortuanetly S&T's (5-15, 2-4 GLVC) bats were held in check by April Ehlers, the reigning GLVC Pitcher of the Week,  who struck out 14 and allowed only two hits in the contest.

Keal went the distance allowing just four hits and struck out five while walking two. Kaylea Smith (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs) and Kate Runyan (Crown Point, Ind./Boone Grove) had the only hits for the Lady Miners.

In the second game, S&T scored first in the opening frame. With runners on the corners and two outs Abby Lunn (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West ) doubled to left center driving in Jennifer Sardigal (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville). Smith tried to score on the play as well but was thrown out at the plate to end the inning.

Amber Duncan (Centralia, Mo./Centralia) was pitching really well early before being struck by a ball off the bat of Katie Sullivan with two outs in the second. Duncan left the game with an injury. Lauren Briggs (LaMonte, Mo./Knob Noster) came on to get the final out of the frame.

The Norse broke the game open in the third scoring 11 times on 11 hits in the third inning. Jamie Raabe and Emily Schwaeble each drove in a pair of runs in the inning.

S&T cut into the lead in the fourth when Briggs doubled home Runyan and Jamie Hatlan (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit ) to make it 11-3.

NKU responded with five in the bottom half of the inning for the final margin.

The Lady Miners had eight hits in the nightcap led by Sardigal with two. Briggs took the loss.

S&T returns to action on Sunday afternoon when it travels to Louisville, Ky., to take on Bellarmine University beginning at 11 a.m. (CST).
