10/7/2011 11:49:00 PM

Box Score (Rolla, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners had plenty of opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net as it fell at home to Illinois Springfield 3-0 on Friday evening. The Prairie Stars (4-5-1, 3-5 GLVC) scored a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half and one late in the second for all the scoring.
UIS scored the first goal at the 30:55 mark as Erin Egolf found the back of the net from the far wing off a pass from Ashley Stariha. S&T (3-6-1, 3-6 GLVC) had a chance to tie the game in the 36th minute. After Melissa Young (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) had a shot blocked she got her rebound and tried to hit low liner inside the near post. UIS finished the half outshooting the Lady Miners 9-6 and got four of those on goal as opposed to just two for S&T.
