Late goal hurts Lady Miners in 1-0 loss at Drury

(Springfield, Mo.) – It was a tale of two halves in the game between the Missouri S&T Lady Miners and Drury Panthers on Sunday afternoon. Drury scored on penalty kick with 13:25 left in the contest to win 1-0 on Sunday in Springfield, Mo.

The Lady Miners (3-3, 3-3 GLVC) dominated the opening period as they outshot the Panthers (5-4, 3-3 GLVC) 8-3 in the frame and put four of those shots on goal. Unfortunately S&T was unable to put one in the net.

The second half was all Drury as it dominated the stat sheet getting off seven shots, three on goal and had three corner kicks. Hillary Cockrell scored the game winner.

The Panthers held the edge in shots 10-8, but the Lady Miners had four shots on goal to just three Drury.

Leah Williams (Lawrence, Kan./Free State) had four shots, two on goal to lead the Lady Miners. Kelsey Kurilla (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) stopped two of the three shots she faced to suffer the loss.

Nicole Williams led the Panthers with three shots, two on goal while Jessie Sanderson stopped all four shots she faced.

S&T returns to the road on Friday traveling up to St. Louis to take on Missouri-St. Louis beginning at 5 p.m.
