The game was scoreless through the first two innings, despite Indianapolis (17-8, 9-1 GLVC) having their opportunities stranding a runner at third with less than two outs in each of the first two innings. The Greyhounds ended up getting on the board first scoring a run in the third on an RBI single to center field. They had a chance for more with runners at the corner and no one out, but Ashley Wallingford got three straight groundouts to get out of the inning.
S&T (10-8, 5-5 GLVC) answered in the top of the fourth inning. With one out Kristen Drage singled to right. After a strikeout, Coley Naughton put the Lady Miners ahead with a two-run homer to left center. They had a chance to extend the lead in the fifth getting a runner to second with only one out, but couldn't get her home.
Indy put the possible tying and go-ahead runs on base in the bottom half of the inning with only one out. Wallingford escaped without any damage getting a pair of groundouts to Jennifer Sardigal to end the inning.
The Hounds threatened again in the sixth inning putting a pair of runners on with two outs but another groundout to Sardigal ended that threat.
Taylor Keal came on in the seventh and allowed a one out single before getting a force out at second and a strikeout to end the game.
S&T finished the contest with four hits led by Drage, Naughton, Kassi Deibert and Sardigal with one apiece.
Wallingford improved to 5-4 on the season allowing only one run on three hits while striking out a pair but did walk six. Keal picked up her second save of the season for her work in the seventh.
In the second game the Lady Miners fell behind in the first inning giving up a lead-off home run down the left field line to Jaime Keltz.
S&T put the tying run on base in the second but couldn't move her around.
The Hounds extended their lead in the fourth putting runners on second and third with one out. A groundout to second scored the second run, Keal was able to get a strikeout to end the inning.
The Lady Miners answered in the fifth loading the bases with a pair of singles and a walk with two outs. An error by the right fielder allowed the tying runs to score and Krista Porterfield tried to score from first with the go ahead run but was gunned down at the plate to end the inning.
Indianapolis regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth on a groundout to second scoring the runner from third.
S&T tried to answer in the sixth putting runners at first and second with one out but couldn't get the runs home.
The Lady Miners had one more chance in the seventh but were retired in order to end the contest.
S&T finished the second game with five hits by five different players.
Keal took the loss allowing three runs on five hits, struck out three and walked two in six innings.
The Lady Miners are scheduled to play at Saint Joseph's in Rensselaer, Ind., on Sunday afternoon beginning at 12 p.m.
