Box Score
(Quincy, Ill.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners struck first in its first ever trip to the postseason. Unfortuanetly for them Quincy scored three times in the first half to end the Lady Miners season 3-1 on Sunday in Quincy, Ill.
S&T (8-7) scored first on Leah Williams (Lawrence, Kan./Free State) second of the season. She received a pass from Melia Miller (Richardson, Texas/J.J. Pearce) and Colleen Lewis (St. Louis, Mo./Nerinx Hall Academy) from the wing and made a nice run into the box and slipped it past the keeper 3:32 into the game. The Lady Miners had another shot just over four minutes later when Melissa Young (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) got a shot on goal that was turned away by Jodi Chapie.
It would be S&T's last chance as it wouldn't get another shot off in the contest.
The Hawks (13-3-3) tied the game in the 20th minute on an unassisted goal by Becky Fleming. Fleming fired a shot from 17 yards out into the upper right corner. Quincy got the game winner in the 33rd minute on a goal by Kristine Vogt. Vogt deflected in a cross from Fleming off a defender for her sixth of the season.
The Hawks tacked on one more in the 38th minute on a shot by Brittany Casey from 13 yards out.
The Lady Miners gave up only three shots in the half, but all three went in. S&T had two shots both of which were on goal.
Quincy had four shots in the second half but only one on goal.
S&T finished the 2010 season with its first winning record since 2000.
