HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team saw its five-game winning streak and run of scoreless outings come to a sudden end Friday night, as Northern Kentucky's Michael Holder scored 2:24 into overtime to give the fifth-ranked Norse a 1-0 win in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
Holder scored off an assist by Nicholas Chiarot to end the contest, as the Miners fell one-half game behind the Norse in the GLVC standings. Lewis won earlier in the day to remain in first place, followed by NKU and S&T.
The Norse (9-1-3, 7-1-3 GLVC) outshot the Miners 17-6 in the contest, getting six of those shots on goal. Pat McNamee (Fenton, Mo./Vianney ) was credited with five saves on the night. S&T's only shot on goal came late in the first half from Mario Calderon (Mexico City, Mexico/ITESM).
Missouri S&T (7-3-2, 7-2-2 GLVC) will return to action Sunday when it faces Bellarmine in Louisville, Ky. Game time will be at 1:30 p.m., Central time.
