Box Score (Fayette, Iowa) – Leah Williams (Lawrence, Kan./Free State) goal with six seconds left in regulation tied the game and forced overtime as the Lady Miners were able to come away with a 3-3 tie in double overtime on Sunday at Upper Iowa.

S&T (0-2-1) fell behind early in the contest allowing a goal in the seventh minute as Upper Iowa's (1-3-1) Emily Gielau shot one in from 25 yards out. The Lady Miners responded almost 12 minutes later when Melissa Young (Jefferson City, Mo./Helias) found the back of the net for the first time this season on an unassisted goal from 25 yards out.

The game would remain tied for the next 13 minutes before the Peacocks scored on a rebound to take the 2-1 advantage into halftime. The Lady Miners held a 13-10 advantage in shots, but UIU put six of theirs on goal against only four for S&T.

Williams tied the game for S&T in the 51st minute with her first college goal; as she took a pass from Young and put it into the open net. The Lady Miners continued applying pressure in the next 10 minutes getting off two more shots that went wide.

Upper Iowa retook the lead on a goal by Liz Kaluzinski in the 61st minute scoring from 15 yards out. The Peacocks tried to extend their lead putting their next three shots on goal but Stacey Luquette (St. Amant, La./St. Amant ) came up big stopping all three to keep it a one goal contest.

Catherine Swift (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) came on in the final 20 minutes and made two more saves to keep the Lady Miners within striking distance as they were able to get a couple of looks but were turned away. After another save by Swift in the closing minutes it appeared S&T's comeback was going to fall short until Williams banged in a rebound in the final seconds to force overtime.

The Lady Miners put two shots on goal in the first overtime with shots from Lauren Todd (Raytown, Mo./Raytown South) and Young but couldn't find the back of the net. In the second overtime it was all S&T getting off 10 shots in the final frame including two that were on goal but saved.

The Lady Miners finished the game outshooting Upper Iowa by a 34-21 count, but the Peacocks had the slight edge in shots on goal though at 14-13. Luquette and Swift combined for nine saves for S&T. Williams and Young finished the match with seven shots apiece, six of which were on goal.

The Lady Miners return home on Friday night for a GLVC contest against Lewis beginning at 7:30 p.m., at the S&T Soccer Field.
