Lady Miners have three match unbeaten streak snapped at Quincy

Box Score (Quincy, Ill.) – The Missouri S&T women's soccer team had its three match unbeaten streak snapped in a 3-0 loss at Quincy on Friday evening in Quincy, Ill.

Quincy (4-3, 2-1 GLVC) got on the board in the eighth minute scoring off of a throw in on a shot from the left post into the middle of the net. The Hawks added another goal just two minutes later off a rebound on a shot from the top of the box. The Lady Miners (2-3-1, 2-2 GLVC) had some chances of their own in the opening minutes but were unable to get one past Quincy's goalkeeper. The Hawks added the final goal of the night in the 40th minute for a 3-0 lead at halftime. S&T was outshoot in the frame by an 11-4 margin and 6-3 in shots on goal.

The Lady Miners doubled up the number of shots Quincy had in the second stanza 12-6, but each side had five shots on goal. S&T's best scoring chance came in the 59th minute when Melia Miller (Richardson, Texas/J.J. Pearce) had a penalty kick but was unable to convert it.

The Lady Miners were edged in shots 17-16 and shots on goal 11-8. Miller led the S&T offense with four shots including two on goal. Hillary Griffith, Brooke Ryan (Olathe, Kan./Olathe East), Rachel Moore (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) and Lauren Todd (Raytown, Mo./Raytown South) each had two shots in the contest. Catherine Swift (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) made five saves, all in the second half.

The Lady Miners return to action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Kansas City, Mo., to take on the Rockhurst Hawks in another Great Lakes Valley contest beginning at 12 p.m.
