Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (St. Louis, Mo.) – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners rallied from a 3-0 deficit Wednesday afternoon at Missouri-St. Louis, but the Tritons came away with the victory scoring a run in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 4-3 win in game two and swept a doubleheader from S&T in St. Louis winning the opener 6-0.

The second game was scoreless through the first four and a half innings although each side had their chances by leaving the bases loaded early in the contest. The Tritons (26-13, 10-2 GLVC) got on the board in the fifth inning getting a one out single then Jen O'Hara got the next hitter to swing and miss at a pitch but the ball got away from Coley Naughton (Alton, Ill./Alton) allowing runners at the corner. After O'Hara got a pop up to short for the second out Carly Maddock hit a three run homer to left field for a 3-0 lead.

The Lady Miners (12-19, 4-8 GLVC) got one of those runs back in the sixth on an Ashley Wallingford (Kahoka, Mo./Clark County ) homer to center field with one out. After O'Hara sat UMSL down in order in the bottom of the inning S&T loaded the bases with one out in the seventh. Becky Davis (Blue Springs, Mo./Archbishop O'Hara HS) scored the first run of the inning when the second baseman tried to throw her out at the plate but the throw got away from the catcher. Kristen Drage (Morganfield, Ky./Union County ) tied the game a batter later with a sacrifice fly to left bringing home Janelle Lewis (Gasport, N.Y./Barker ). After a walk to Wallingford loaded the bases again Naughton had a chance to give the Lady Miners the lead but grounded out to first ending the inning.

The Tritons had a chance in the home half of the eighth getting the winning run to second but O'Hara was able to get the center fielder to strike out swinging to end the threat. They were able to win the game in the ninth getting a lead-off double to left then Kelly Essner lined a single to center which got past Emily Tucker (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) allowing the winning run to score.

The Lady Miner was held to just five hits in the second game getting two of those from Davis. Wallingford, Naughton and Katie Smith (Shawnee, Kan./Shawnee Mission Northwest) each had one apiece. S&T had its chances in the contest but stranded nine runners.

O'Hara allowed all four runs, none of them were earned, on 11 hits while striking out a season-high 14 batters and walked only two in the loss.

In the opener the Lady Miner bats were held in check by the pitching of Allyson DeFosset who tossed a no-hitter and did not allow a runner to get past second base in the contest. She finished the game with 14 strikeouts and walked Wallingford twice in the win.

The Triton offense got single runs in the second and fifth innings before breaking it open in the sixth with four runs off of a pair of two run homers.

Wallingford suffered the defeat in the game allowing six runs, five earned, on nine hits and struck out five while walking only one and got 10 ground ball outs in the contest.

S&T returns to action on Friday afternoon hosting Bellarmine University (Ky.) in a GLVC doubleheader beginning at 12 noon.
