Box Score The S&T Lady Miners' fell to the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons,
3-0 on Tuesday night at the Bullman Multipurpose Building. It was the GLVC opener for both squads.
The Lady Miners' (2-8, 0-1 GLVC) hung tough early before UMSL (7-2, 1-0 GLVC) went on a scoring to take a 17-11 lead. S&T answered back with a 5-0 run cutting the deficit to one but it was the closest it would get the rest of the as the Tritons pulled away for a 25-18 win.
In game two Missouri-St. Louis controlled throughout building a 23-13 before the Lady Miners' ran off four straight points highlighted by back-to-back service aces from
Bridget Williams (Topeka, Kan./Hayden) but the Tritons got the final two points to take a 2-0 lead.
In the third set S&T and UMSL went back and forth early on before the Lady Miners' went on a little run taking a 17-14 lead but the Tritons came back and tied at 20-20 on a kill by Weslie Gaff. S&T regained the lead by scoring three of the next four points but were unable to force a fourth game as UMSL scored the final four points of the match to win 25-23.
Leandra Pelae (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) and
Julie Meyer (Marthasville, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) had seven kills apiece to lead the Lady Miners while
Danielle Kracl (Omaha, Neb./Burke) had 17 assists and
Bridget Williams (Topeka, Kan./Hayden) had 12 digs.
