Box Score Rolla, Mo. - The Missouri S&T Lady Miners fell to the 18th-ranked Lewis Flyers,
3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-16) on Saturday afternoon at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building in Rolla.
Lewis (18-3, 10-0 GLVC) dominated the opening set hitting .414 percent (13k/1e/29ta) in racing out to a big lead early never looking back. The Flyers led by as many as 12 in the game before S&T (5-17, 3-9 GLVC) trimmed the lead to eight points but couldn't get any closer.
Lewis got off to another fast start in game two but the Lady Miners rallied to tie the set at 13-13, one of five ties in the set, but couldn't take the lead as the Flyers held off a late charge by S&T scoring the final three points of the set to take the 2-0 advantage into the break.
The Lady Miners led for the early portion of set three before Lewis used an 11-3 run turning a 12-10 deficit into a 21-15 advantage, and then proceeded to score four of the final five points to win the match.
Julie Meyer (Marthasville, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) had seven kills to lead the way for S&T while
Erin Bekebrede (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles) had six.
Danielle Kracl (Omaha, Neb./Burke) finished with 18 set assists and Meyer finished with eight digs.
