Kira Carter begins her first season as the assistant women’s basketball coach at Missouri S&T. Prior to coming to Rolla the Indianapolis, Ind. native served as an assistant coach at Wabash Valley College for two years.
Carter began her coaching career as an assistant coach at Thomas College for one season before returning to Wabash Valley. During the 2014-15 season the Warriors advanced to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament Sweet Sixteen. Five players that she coached have gone on to play for either Division I or Division II programs. Prior to coaching, Carter played a season of professional basketball in the first division Czech Republic league in 2012-13. She played her collegiate ball at Wabash Valley for one season before finishing her career at Coastal Carolina University.
While a player at WVC, Carter earned All-Great Rivers Conference First Team honors, All-Region 24 First Team honors and was an Academic All-American. At Coastal Carolina, she started 46 of 55 games. The past two summers Carter has worked in Myrtle Beach, S.C. as a basketball skills trainer at Manzer Basketball Academy. She has worked with players from the elementary through collegiate levels.
